Like so many successful businesses, the group has a very modest beginning.
In 1991, we started with research and development by using different methods of steam distillation and finally reducing the duration of the extraction from 36 hours to 6 hours at a high quality.
After 3 years a modern pilot facility was implemanted. The new and efficient method of vetiver oil extraction improved the oil Yield, the Quality, the Appearance and the Profitability.
The modern Distillery is at 30 MT capacity of production and rapidly gained a reputation for the best quality of Haitian vetiver oil using less energy and a win-win-win situation from growers to end users.
Standardization with QA/QC lab installation: Unikode became part of the selected few local companies that supervised their essential oil production.
Oil Yield Fair Price: The group used its oil extraction performance to establish an incentive system to value and compensate the vetiver roots producers.

Biomass fuel replacement and charcoal briquettes project, using vetiver and agricultural waste to reduce deforestation.
Unikode wants to confirm their willingness to unify the Haitian vetiver oil industry and implement anti-erosion and traceability to insure a fair income and improve distribution of profits generated by the industry.
