UNIKODE VETIVER OIL
The industry of the essential oil of vetiver continues to play an important role in the Haitian economy because the exports from the agricultural sector represents an average annual income.
The annual production of vetiver oil is more or less adjusted to the demand of international users and distillers. The agro and social climate in Les Cayes's soil structure and the methods of the culture are well suited to the production of vetiver. It is of considerable social importance because a large number of growers and the poorest members of the rural population are involved in growing, harvesting, collecting, transporting and road repairing.
The industry's very intense labor contributes subtantially to a slowdown in population and migration from rural areas and increases their purchasing power.
